ONE PARTY POLITICAL RULE
This article is written in the shadow of this past Presidential Election, when there was an absolute failure of our Government on all levels to ensure that the election results were fair and accurate.
Retrospectively, we can continue to argue (to no avail) how our local Legislators should have exercised their sole-Constitutional Authority to oversee that the voting was Constitutionally Legal in this past election.
But the reality is, the election has past, and there is no turning back the certification and swearing in of the one who is presently in “The Peoples’ White House”, and that “We the People” must endure whatever Executive Decisions that will come forth from this President, and the laws passed or changed by his Political Party.
For unlike the previous President, whose Executive Orders are indeed being reversed one by one, by the one who now resides in our White House; due mainly in part because the previous President did not have the majority support of his own Political Party, he was forced into using executive orders more often than he should have had to, instead of those orders being given a chance to be passed into law, which if they had been; it would have made it harder to overturn them in future Presidential Administrations.
This now residing President and his Political Party has a long history of doing one thing above everything, and that is they tend to hold the line in voting for whatever is the political agenda of their party; no matter how highly controversial, or un-Constitutional, and even worse un-Godly they may be.
Thus, the fear is not just the executive orders, no matter how horrific they may be, becoming the law of the land for the term of the current Presidency; because as long as they are solely just “executive orders”; they can easily be overturned just days into the next Presidential Administration, by the simple signing of a pen in the hand of the next President.
The real fear lies in the ability of this current President’s Democrat Party to pass pretty much whatever they choose to bring up for a vote in the Senate, with the assistance of the Democrats in the House of Representatives, voting likewise, and the President then signing into law.
With the Democrats having for the next two years a majority rule in both The House of Representatives and a 50/50 split in The Senate, with the tie breaker being the current Vice-President. It has given the Democrat Senators the ability to make and change laws with just a simple majority vote of 51; with all democrats voting the same and needing only one republican to vote likewise. Or, even if both parties do vote straight down their individual party line, making a 50/50 vote; it will fall to the Vice-President to break that tie.
This sole party majority rule is extremely dangerous, especially in the hands of such unethical and un-godly men and women who make up the majority of the current political party that is currently in power. And those of their party, who claim not to hold to the same immoral values of their party’s platform/agendas, but who do not have it within themselves to go against their party.
This simple majority rule is not what our founding fathers intended; wherein they instilled a sixty-percent majority vote being the threshold to be met to make or change laws within our Senate. This changing from a supermajority rule to the now simple majority rule, was changed in 2013 by the then Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid, who was a Democrat.
At the same time – It was not enough that the Democrats were able to change the supermajority threshold to their more favorable simple majority threshold, making it easier for them to make and pass legislation that they knew would be harder, if not impossible for its passing with a 60/40 Vote. To ensure that their laws would be less likely overturned, they kept the 60/40 Vote being required, when it comes to repealing any simple majority passed legislation.
In my internet search: In the last 100 years, I counted that there has only been thirteen times when only one of the Political Parties held 60 or more seats in the Senate, and not one of those times was it the Republicans. The last time the Democrats held 60 or more seats was three decades ago when they had 61 seats in the 95th Congress (1977-1979).
I believe that our founding fathers had in mind when they made it a supermajority rule to make or change legislation in the Senate; they counted on the far and in between times when any one Political Party would be able to gain and even worse maintain a monopoly of our Senate: Giving them such power to either controlling or hindering the other two branches of our Governing Body. Now, when you add the changes made for just a simple majority in the Senate, it has made it only easier for such a monopolization to take place.
With our current Senate and House simple Majority Rule and current President all being of the same corrupt/immoral party, it has made it even easier for those corrupt persons within this party to further corrupt this Great Nation, who was founded upon the Judeo-Christian morality of The Holy Bible. “Lord, Help Us!”
